Jersey Bird Homestead — ADGA-Registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats
Thank you for your interest in Jersey Bird Homestead goats. Before reaching out about an available kid or adult, please read through our philosophies and policies below. This helps us make sure every goat goes to a home that’s the right fit — and helps you know exactly what to expect from us. Ready to get started? Apply for a goat kid here.
Waiting List
We currently keep an open waiting list for kids and adult goats. Placing your name on the list is not a purchase commitment — it simply means we’ll reach out when a goat becomes available that may suit your needs. Preference is given to repeat customers and to homes with an easy, communicative track record.
Pricing
- Wethers: $150 – $250
- Breeding stock (does/bucks): $400 – $5,000, depending on pedigree, conformation, and age at time of sale
- A non-refundable deposit of $100 per goat is required to hold any animal. We accept deposits via Venmo or cash.
- Balance is due in full at the time of pickup or transport.
Health Guarantee
We guarantee our goats are healthy and free of disqualifying faults at the time of sale and pickup. Because we can’t control an animal’s environment once it leaves our farm, we’re unable to guarantee health, temperament, or wellbeing beyond that point. Kids sold before weaning age are always bottle-trained before they go home.
No Single-Goat Sales
Goats are herd animals and need companionship to thrive. We will not sell a single goat to a home unless there is already at least one goat there to keep it company.
Transport
We do not ship goats by air. We’re happy to coordinate with reputable ground transporters, and we always love it when buyers make the trip to the farm themselves — it’s a great way to meet the whole herd and see where your goat came from.
Pickup & Boarding
Once a pickup or transport date is agreed upon, we ask that it be honored. Goats not picked up by the agreed date may be subject to a boarding fee of $10/day after a grace period of 14 days. Deposits are forfeited if a goat is not collected within 12 weeks of the agreed date.
Our Breeding Philosophy
Every goat that carries the Jersey Bird prefix is bred with intention — for sound conformation, good health, and solid dairy character. We hold our own herd to the same standard we’d want in a goat we’re buying, and we’re honest about strengths and weaknesses when describing an animal to a prospective buyer.
Right of Refusal
If you ever need to re-home a goat you purchased from us, we ask that you give us the first opportunity to take it back or help you find it a good home. Biosecurity means we may not always be able to bring an animal back into our herd, but we’re always willing to help however we can.
